SCOTT WINGO

Oh, how much fun it was to track down my longtime friend Scott Wingo! Scott and I have been playing together since we were 12 years old and he is truly one the greatest people I know. I always played in the outfield, while Wingo in the infield, and since we were kids, I watched him make these plays that would just blow your mind. The greatest glove and hands on any infielder I’ve ever seen.

Scott doesn’t need much of a build-up. He is one of USC’s All-Time Greats. The 2011 CWS MVP, had a stand-out career at Carolina and later came back to coach on the team for a season.

Scott was drafted by the Dodgers and played a few seasons in the minor leagues before he hung up the cleats. We tracked him down in Jacksonville, Florida where he has a new assistant coaching gig at Jacksonville University.

Scott has had children, pets, and even horses named after him. There was a country and a trap song written about him! "Hey someone told me they named a horse Wingo. Yeah, they named a horse after my ass. And you know what I want to do, I want to find out who you are and I want to get together and ride that horse!"
